UROSPOT for Men: UROSPOT is a great option for men with bladder leaks, urgency, frequency, night waking and erectile dysfunction caused by pelvic floor dysfunction.  Even men who have had a radical prostatectomy.

Is UROSPOT eligible for coverage with extended health benefits?

UROSPOT Physiotherapy Services are eligible for extended health benefit coverage. Each plan is of course unique, so its up to the client to understand what level of coverage they have. For those wishing to include the technology within a comprehensive pelvic health rehabilitation program, our Nurse will determine the right course of therapy with the technology and our physiotherapist will develop an individualized care plan for you. Please note: we do not do direct billing and extended health benefit coverage is not available in Manitoba.

Will I need to undress during my sessions?

No way! You remain fully clothed. There is no undressing into a gown either. You wear the clothes you arrive in.

Is a referral required to book an appointment?

No. You can book directly—no referral needed from health care providers. During your first visit, we’ll review your health concerns and begin building a targeted treatment plan that fits your needs.

Does pelvic floor therapy on the technology hurt?

You will experience tingling and contraction of ALL your pelvic floor muscles during your session. It is NOT painful, and you can resume daily activities immediately after your session.

How soon will I feel a difference?

Improvement in pelvic health occurs gradually with each session in your treatment plan.  Some people begin to notice improvement as early as their first few sessions. Typically, you can expect your optimal outcomes to be achieved around 6 weeks post treatment.

Everything You Want to Know About Pelvic Health

What is pelvic health?

Pelvic health describes the proper functioning and overall health of the pelvic floor muscles and the organs it supports or stabilizes: bladder, bowel, uterus, and prostate (in men). Good pelvic health means no bladder leaking, heaviness, or pelvic pain, and a pelvic floor that can both relax and contract the way it should.

What are the SIGNS of pelvic FLOOR dysfunction?

Pelvic floor dysfunction can show up in many different ways. Some of the most common symptoms include:

  • Bladder leaks (when you cough, laugh, sneeze, exercise)
  • Frequent or urgent trips to the washroom
  • Pelvic pressure or heaviness (often described as “feeling like something is falling out”). This is called prolapse.
  • Waking up at night to pee
  • Pelvic pain (can be with intercourse)
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Sexual functioning issues

Can GLP‑1 weight‑loss medications affect the pelvic floor?

GLP-1 weight-loss drugs can indirectly influence pelvic floor health through rapid weight changes and bowel shifts such as constipation or diarrhea. If you notice new leakage or heaviness, it’s worth speaking to a team of experts who specialize in this area. You can visit UROSPOT for a complimentary consultation.

How to improve pelvic health?

You can improve your pelvic health with a tailored pelvic floor exercise plan, healthy bladder and bowel habits, maintaining a steady weight, good posture, and proper breathing. Avoiding bladder irritants—like caffeine and alcohol—can also reduce urgency and leaks. Managing constipation and chronic coughing further protects your pelvic floor. UROSPOT supports you with a personalized assessment and a treatment plan built around your body, your symptoms, and your goals.

what is done during pelvic floor therapy?

During pelvic floor therapy at UROSPOT, your therapist will design an individualized care plan for you. You remain fully clothed with all pelvic floor therapy at UROSPOT. She will check posture, breathing and how your core and pelvic floor work together. You can choose to incorporate technology to help accelerate the fitness improvement of your pelvic floor.

What should I expect from postpartum pelvic floor therapy?

After giving birth, pelvic floor therapy helps restore strength, coordination, and comfort. Your therapist will assess posture, breathing, and explain how your core and pelvic floor muscles work together. Then, they will create a personalized care plan that may include targeted exercises, lifestyle guidance and strategies to manage pelvic discomfort. Treatment may include traditional methods, modern technology-based options like those at UROSPOT that let you to stay fully clothed, or a combination of both.

How long does it take to see results from pelvic floor therapy?

By incorporating technology into your pelvic floor therapy, many people notice changes quickly, with optimal outcomes reached in 6 weeks. Consistency with lifestyle and behaviour changes help accelerate these improvements as well.

WHAT ARE THE BIGGEST BENEFITS OF PELVIC HEALTH Physiotherapy?

Pelvic health physiotherapy helps reduce bladder leaks and urgency, improve bladder and bowel control, stop night waking, enhance sexual function affected by pain or low libido, aid post-surgery recovery, manage pelvic organ prolapse, and boost overall confidence and quality of life.
